Railway Board has announced that AC chair car and executive class fares of all trains including Vande Bharat will be cut. For which a new scheme has been prepared by the Ministry of Railways. Its name is Concessional Fare Scheme. Through this scheme, the passengers traveling in the train will get a discount in the ticket. AC train ticket prices will be reduced by up to 25% under the रियायती किराया योजना. This exemption will be applicable with immediate effect.

The fare of trains will also depend on the competitive mode of transport. The fare will be deducted based on the number of passengers. This scheme will not be applicable on special trains.

Discount will be available in basic fare

The Railway Board has said that under the Concessional Fare Scheme, a maximum discount of 25% will be given to the passengers in the fare. Apart from this, other charges like super fast surcharge, reservation fee and GST etc. will be charged as at present. This relaxation can be given on the basis of vacant seats in all categories. Concession under the Concessional Fare Scheme can be granted for the initial leg of the journey, the last leg of the journey, intermediate sections or from the beginning to the end of the journey. But it is necessary that the occupancy of that phase, section, as the case may be from beginning to end, is less than 50%.

Riyayati Kiraya Yojana will be reviewed regularly

The fare concession under this scheme will be applicable initially for a period as decided by the PCCM of the zone from where the train originates. Which will be applicable for a maximum of 6 months. Further review of the scheme will be done regularly and depending on the occupancy, the relaxation may be revised or extended/withdrawn. Discount will also be given on tickets booked till the first chart is prepared and during the current booking. Discount can also be given if TT is taken on the rail. Tickets on PTO/Difference in fares on Railway Passes/Concessional Vouchers/MLA/Ex-MLAs Coupons/Warrants/MPs/Ex-MPs/Freedom Fighters etc. will be booked on basic class wise fare and not on concessional fare.
