Through this scheme, various institutions and cattle rearers associated with the dairy department are to be encouraged to produce milk and provide economic benefits. The National Gopal Ratna Award Scheme has been launched by the Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying. Under which those animal herders, farmers and entrepreneurs will be rewarded, who are doing excellent work in the field of animal husbandry. - Best Dairy Farmer rearing indigenous Cow/Buffalo Breeds
- Best Artificial Insemination Technician (AIT)
- Best Dairy Cooperative Society / Milk Producer Company / Dairy Farmer Producer Organization.

Selection Process for राष्ट्रीय गोपाल रत्न पुरस्कार योजना
- The National Gopal Ratna Award applications received on the website will be initially scrutinized by the Quality Council of India (QCI) or any other agency. The agency will score the applications based on the evaluation/score card provided by DAHD and recommend best 20 applications in each category to the Award Screening Committee constituted by DAHD and field visits/verification of all shortlisted applications to NDDB/DAHD to be identified by
The Award Screening Committee, DAHD will shortlist the best applicants (preferably 5 in each category) and recommend the same to the National Awards Committee (NAC).
The Committee may call for physical verification/live video footage by involving Central/State/NDDB officials or hire any outside agencies, if need be, and call for necessary documents for screening to its satisfaction.
The committee will decide the methodology and criteria for screening. The committee will maintain confidentiality on the selection of candidates for the awards until the official announcement of the names of the awardees.
The Screening Committee will have the right to reject the applications, decide on the number of awardees to be recommended.
The non-official members of the Screening Committee will also be entitled to TA/DA on the basis of normal finance.
Gopal Ratna Award Ceremony Details
The names of the awardees in each category for this scheme will be announced by the Hon’ble Minister for Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying. The award ceremony will be held at a place decided by the Department of Animal Husbandry and Dairying. Awards will be given as per the availability of Hon’ble Prime Minister/Hon’ble DAHD Minister.
Eligibility for National Gopal Ratna Award Scheme
- The applicant must be a permanent resident of the country.
Farmers or cattle rearers will be eligible to take advantage of the scheme.
Artificial Insemination Technician, FPO Organization, Milk Producer Company and Dairy Cooperative Society etc. will also be eligible to take advantage of the scheme.
If any FPO Milk Producer Company or Dairy Cooperative Society is applying then they have to collect 100 liters of milk per day and at least 50 farmers should be associated under them.
Milk producer company should be associated with the following section of the Companies Act / Cooperative Act.
The artificial insemination technician should have at least 90 days training in this area.
