Majhi Kanya Bhagyashree Yojana has been started by the Maharashtra Government to brighten the future of the daughters of the state. Through which, if any mother or father of the state gets sterilization done within one year after the birth of a girl child, then an amount of Rs 50,000 will be deposited in the bank by the government in the name of the girl child. Under ‘Majhi Kanya Bhagyashree Yojana’, benefits will be provided only to 02 daughters of the same person in Maharashtra. Under which it will be mandatory for the parents to undergo sterilization within 1 year after the birth of one daughter and within 6 months of the birth of the second daughter. Under this scheme, earlier the annual income of Below Poverty Line (BPL) family was fixed at Rs 1 lakh. But now according to the new policy, the annual income of the eligible family under the scheme has been increased from Rs 1 lakh to Rs 7.5 lakh.
Key aspects of the Yojana
Under ‘Majhi Bhagyashree Kanya Yojana’, interest money will be received for the first time when the girl turns 6 years old and for the second time when the girls turn 12 years old. When the girl completes 18 years of age, she will be entitled to receive the entire amount. To avail the full benefits of Maharashtra Majhi Kanya Bhagyashree Scheme 2021, the girl should be at least 10th passed and unmarried.
Parents of the state who want to be eligible under this scheme will have to apply. Under the scheme, a bank account will be opened in the name of the girl or her mother. In this account itself, funds will be transferred from time to time to the bank account in the name of the girl child by the state government.

Maharashtra Majhi Kanya Bhagyashree Yojana’s primary goal
The primary objective of the Maharashtra Majhi Kanya Bhagyashree Yojana is to increase the birth rate of girls in the state and reduce gender disparity. Under this scheme, every family in the state is given financial assistance of ₹50,000 for their two daughters. This assistance is credited to the daughter’s Aadhaar card and can be used for her education.

Eligibility for Majhi Kanya Bhagyashree Yojana
- Beneficiary family must be permanent resident of Maharashtra state.
- The annual income limit of the beneficiary family must be ₹7.5 lakh.
- The beneficiary family must have 2 daughters.
- Both the girls must have a date of birth on or after 1st January 2014.
